General guidelines

kindling & sage magazine is a print + digital publication that features content created by women and gender-diverse emerging and experienced writers of the Global Majority. We are a safe space to share ideas, experiences, knowledge and perspectives that strengthen our communities and inspire.

We feature opinion pieces, interviews, short stories, poetry and book reviews. Across our magazine, you’ll also find featured businesses to support and learn more about.

Please only submit work if you reside in so-called Australia and identify as a Blak/First Nations, Woman of Colour and/or Gender Diverse POC. We appreciate the support of allies, but only publish work created by people of the Global Majority.

We publish a broad range of articles, all in line with the kindling & sage personality: feisty, strong, smart, brave, outspoken, hopeful, resilient, inclusive. Have a browse through our website and social media to understand our brand.

kindling & sage is a unique platform and so are our writers. Our readers are excited to read new perspectives that are honest and smart, interesting narratives that draw on our writers' lived experience and interactions with the world. We publish thought-provoking pieces our readers will want to quote and talk about with their friends. We start conversations that our readers will want to amplify.
